Hindu can be cremated in open: UK Court of Appeal

Reversing the decision of the High Court, the Court of Appeal in United Kingdom has upheld the claim of the Mr. Davander Ghai to be cremated in open according to his religious beliefs as a Hindu holding it to be a part of his human rights as guaranteed under law. The Court of Appeal was dealing with the validity of the claim of the Local Council which had declared that cremation in open could not be allowed in view of the Regulations which required the same to be done in a building. The Court held that the interpretation assigned by the Local Council was not in consonance with the spirit of the Regulations in which it were framed and thus allowed the claim of Ghai to be cremated in open. Have a look at the Court of Appeal's decision.
